THE ECO KIDS CLUB:

Portia and Bianca Large founded the ‘Eco Kids’ to encourage conservation mindfulness and environmental education amongst the next generation. Supported by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, Whitsunday Catchment Landcare, Whitsunday Local Marina Advisory Committee, O.U.C.H group, Whitsunday Police Citizens Youth Club, Natural Heritage Trust, Reef Guardian Schools Program and the Whitsunday Regional Council – Reef Guardian Council. Eco Kids events and initiatives include: Youth Environment Awards (Y.E.A), ‘Keep your butts off our reef’ (Campaign to combat cigarette butt pollution of waterways and boat butt flicking culture), ‘Pirates of the Whitsunday’s – Treasure Hunt’, the Sustainable Catchment Maze: The reef is closer than you think, Treasure Hunt, and the ‘In the Know’ TV and online quiz show (testing the knowledge of local school students).

READ AND RECOVER:

An annual book and gift collection founded by Portia and Bianca Large supported by schools surrounding the Gold Coast Hospital. This foundation aims to make hospital visits more comfortable for ill children during the festive season. Using reading and learning as an escape guests benefit from the good wishes of the community.

BEE A FRIEND, LEND A HAND:

An annual learning resource collection in support of Aboriginal Foster Children of North-East Queensland. This charity now championed by the Zonta Womens Group.
